Does Flare require data connectivity?

Yes, Flare requires data connectivity in order to send alerting information to the Busby platform.

Both Android (Google) and iOS (Apple) do not allow applications to send SMS directly from your phone (for security reasons) and therefore a data connection is required in order to send your location information to the Flare platform, which, in turn then raises an SMS alert using a global SMS network.

It is therefore important to note, that in the event that you experience an incident in an area with no data signal, if your phone is in aeroplane mode, or if you have no data services/credit, etc - Flare will not be able to raise an incident message to your emergency contacts.
